Michael Matheson is encouraging bus users across Falkirk district to get involved in two public consultations that will help shape the future of bus services and smart ticketing in Scotland.

The Falkirk West MSP said: “While declining passenger numbers pose a challenge to the industry, many of my constituents continue to rely on buses and use them daily. Transport Scotland’s consultations offer them an important opportunity to have their say on how best to improve bus services.

“In order to develop an effective, joined-up, Scotland-wide smart ticketing and payment service, it is vital to get the views of as many users, transport operators and public bodies as possible.”

Transport Scotland will hold a number of events and stakeholder workshops to encourage participation in the consultations, which started this week and will run until December 5.
