Falkirk West MSP has welcomed the announcement from the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Fiona Hyslop MSP that Falkirk town centre is to receive £1.6 million in regeneration funding.

In welcoming the news Mr Matheson said;

“ This is a tremendous boost for the town centre which I’m sure will be welcomed by shop keepers and shoppers alike.

“This is the second time in recent years that Falkirk town centre has benefitted from direct Scottish Government money as can be seen around the area of Falkirk Old and St Modans Parish Church.

“Falkirk High Street is a very historic area and has a number of significant buildings which require investment and I’m pleased that the Scottish Government have recognised this.

“This new money for Falkirk town centre can act as a catalyst not only to make the area better looking but also as a vehicle to bring more visitors to Falkirk to shop and visit Falkirk which will stimulate the local economy.
