Parents and guardians of two- to five-year-olds in Falkirk district are being encouraged to take advantage of the free flu vaccine for children before Christmas.

GP practices are providing the nasal flu vaccine free of charge in a bid to keep youngsters virus-free this winter.

Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson said: “I’m urging all parents and guardians in Falkirk district who haven’t yet done so, to take children aged two to five to their GP for a free flu vaccine.

“Getting the nasal spray only takes a few minutes and is painless. It doesn’t contain a live virus, so will not cause flu in your child, and can protect them against the disease for up to a year.

“The vaccine is the best defence against flu for your children and could help them enjoy a flu-free festive period while also reducing the spread of infections.”
