Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has welcomed new statistics showing the strong performance of Accident and Emergency units in Forth Valley.

The figures published today show that 96.2 per cent of patients in A&E were treated within four hours in Forth Valley – more than meeting the Scottish Government’s interim target of 95 per cent.

Commenting, Mr Matheson said:

“These very positive figures for Forth Valley showing a strong performance in our A&E units are a tribute to the hard-working NHS staff who do such important work in our hospitals.

“The SNP’s commitment to our health service is second to none – investing an additional £383m in frontline health spending in 2015/16, meaning Scottish health spending will now be above £12bn for the first time ever – and these figures show that this investment is delivering real results in Forth Valley.

“But there is always more which can be done – and people in Forth Valley can rest assured that there will be absolutely no complacency from the SNP and we will continue to do everything we can to further protect and improve our NHS and deliver the best results for staff and patients alike.
