Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has written to Transport Scotland calling on them to hold a public engagement event in Allandale, given they are most affected by the decision.

Mr Matheson said:

“This has been an issue that I have been dealing with on behalf of my constituents in Allandale for a number of years now.

“The options proposed by Transport Scotland are to either close both slip roads at Castlecary or to remove the bus gates on the slip roads. I have written to Transport Scotland stating that my preference would be to remove the bus gates.

“I am pleased that this matter seems to be coming to a conclusion and I pay tribute to the Allandale constituents who have campaigned to have the bus gates removed. As a community they have had to put up with traffic problems for a number of years which is unacceptable.

“In order that Transport Scotland can gauge the opinion of my constituents in Allandale I have also asked that a suitable venue be found in the Allandale area for the consultation event to take place as many of them are unable to attend the one being held at the Westerwood Hotel in Cumbernauld”.
