Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has welcomed the news that local food company Malcolm Allan Ltd is set to share in a £3.7 million investment by the Scottish Government.

Cabinet Secretary for Food Richard Lochhead has announced the latest round of awards from the Food Processing, Marketing and Co-operation (FPMC) scheme, which is jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the EU. The grant of over £452,000 to invest in a new bakery and a new sausage production area.

In welcoming this news Mr Matheson said:

“Malcolm Allan Ltd is a major employer in the Falkirk area and this latest grant from the Scottish Government will enable them to expand their operation, plus safeguard their workforces jobs.

“I have worked closely with the company over a number of years and I am delighted to see this local family business continue to expand as demand for their products grow.

“This grant is good news for the company and good news for our area”
