Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has welcomed the launch of SNP colleague Mark McDonald’s High Hedges (Scotland) Bill.

The Bill aims to make provision about hedges which interfere with the reasonable enjoyment of domestic properties.

Commenting Mr Matheson said:

“I welcome the launch of Mark McDonald’s High Hedges (Scotland) Bill which I believe will be an important piece of legislation.

“As I’ve previously stated, I know, through speaking to constituents in Larbert, Falkirk and Bonnybridge, that high hedge disputes can cause a lot of stress and worry. Some constituents have indicated to me they feel there is little assistance available to deal with the problem.

“The introduction of this Bill will be an ideal opportunity for constituents, throughout Scotland, to make their views known and help shape it as it goes through the Parliamentary process.

“I am sure many constituents will read the Bill as published and I would encourage those with an interest to submit any evidence to the Local Government and Regeneration Committee of the Scottish Parliament as they are scrutinising the bill through the committee stages.”
