Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has welcomed the news that £500,000 has been allocated to Scottish Canals to contribute towards the development of a new £1.2 m visitor centre at the Kelpies canal hub near Falkirk .

The funding worth half a million pounds for this ‘shovel ready’ project is in addition to the funding already allocated to Scottish Canals and will contribute further to regeneration and tourism across Scotland’s canal network.

In welcoming this Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson said:

“I am delighted that the Scottish Government has provided this funding to support Scottish Canals in Falkirk for the development of a Kelpies visitor centre.
