Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has written to the Post Office after news broke they were seeking a franchise partner to take over the branch.
The branch is based in Garrison Place in Falkirk town Centre is the main post office for the town.

Mr Matheson said;

“The news that the Garrison Place Post Office is to be franchised will be concerning, not only for the general public but also for the staff who work there.

“I have written to The Post Office to seek assurances that every possible effort will be taken to protect the jobs of the staff and the services they provide to the people of Falkirk.

“It is vital that a town the size of Falkirk doesn’t lose its main Post Office. Its is important that whoever is awarded the franchise must give a guarantee that it will maintain and improve the services already provided. Anything less will not be acceptable and I will be pressing the Post Office to ensure these guarantees are provided.”
