Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has hit out at RBS following their decision to close their branch in Bonnybridge and has asked them to rethink their decision.

Mr Matheson said

“This will come as a shock to my constituents in the Bonnybridge area, as it is the only bank with a presence in this area, which not only serves Bonnybridge but also the villages to its south and west.

“This proposed closure will be a real loss to the village and although they are proposing that some of the functions will be carried out at the post office there will be a real loss to the community in the level of service and advice that only a bank can provide to both its customers and the business community.

“I’m afraid that RBS through its own mismanagement are looking for ways to saving money without regard to the impact they will have on the local community.

“I believe this is a short sighted decision I have written to RBS asking them to reconsider this branch closure and retain a presence in the town for their many loyal customers.”
