More than 100 local voluntary organisations, charities, schools, churches and community councils have been invited to a funding fayre being hosted by Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson and Falkirk MP John McNally on Friday, November 23.

The event in Denny will be attended by 14 funding organisations, including Big Lottery Fund, SportScotland, Creative Scotland, Foundation Scotland, Firstport Scotland, Royal Celtic Society, Tesco Bags of Help, Scotmid and Volunteering Matters Action Earth.

Local funders CVS Falkirk, Falkirk Environment Trust, Falkirk Council’s Make a Difference fund, Falkirk Community Schools Charity Board and Kelvin Valley & Falkirk LEADER will also be present.
Groups who attend will be able to gain advice on how best to approach funders for financial support for projects or equipment. They will also have the chance to discuss their ideas face to face with the funders’ representatives.

Similar funding fayres have been successfully hosted in Falkirk in recent years, so the focus this time is on assisting organisations in the Denny, Bonnybridge, Larbert and Stenhousemuir areas.

Mr Matheson said: “There are so many groups who do wonderful work in our area and the funding fayre is a practical way to show our appreciation and back their efforts.
“We’re grateful to all the funding organisations who have agreed to come along and we look forward to a good turnout. The hope is that by bringing together local groups with funders, we’ll help to unlock vital financial support for many projects across Falkirk West constituency.”

Mr McNally added: “The funding fayre offers a great way for local organisations to meet a wide variety of funders in an informal setting that’s ideal for networking and discussing ideas.
“It can be daunting, especially for smaller groups, to know where to start when it comes to applying for funding, so I encourage as many groups as possible to come along and gain valuable advice on the options available to them.”

The funding fayre will be held at Broompark Centre in Davies Row, Denny, and run from 10am until 12 noon. Forth Valley Community Focus CIC will provide refreshments.

If your organisation hasn’t received an invite and you’d like to attend, please call Michael Matheson’s office on 01324 629 271.
