3.8 PER CENT FUNDING RISE FOR FRONTLINE HEALTHCARE IN FORTH VALLEY

Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has welcomed the news that NHS Foerh Valley is to benefit from a 3.8 per cent increase in funding.

All health boards are to share £9.1 billion in revenue funding in 2013-14, with territorial Boards being given a general allocation increase of £256 million for 2013-14.

This is an overall increase of 3.3 per cent in 2013-14 for all territorial health boards – which is a real terms increase of 1.3 per cent above inflation.

Mr Matheson said;

“I am pleased that the Scottish Government is committed to protecting spending on health in Forth Valley, and this funding increase reflects their commitment to healthcare.

“Despite a difficult economic climate, I know how important it is that investment in the NHS must continue.

“NHS Forth Valley have been allocated by the Scottish Government £432.2 million which is an increase of 3.8%, which I know will be welcomed by my constituents who value this service.
