Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has welcomed the latest investment by BT, who have announced that 25 communities in Scotland are to see investment in high-speed fibre broadband, which includes Bonnybridge.

Commenting Mr Matheson said :

“This announcement by BT of a major fibre broadband upgrade in Bonnybridge is very welcome news indeed. It is critical to our local economy that we see investment in new communications technology to enable business to remain competitive with major urban centres and to attract new investment in businesses.

“One issue that is regularly raised by constituents as a priority is getting broadband access for both business and leisure purposes.

“More and more businesses are doing business over the internet and more and more public services are accessible through the web – from reporting a pothole to ordering repeat prescriptions, applying for welfare benefits and making planning applications.

“There is a significant amount of major investment being made by both the public and private sectors. This announcement by BT for Bonnybridge is the latest in a raft of plans that will see the vast majority of people in that community getting much better internet access.
