Staff levels at Forth Valley Health Board have increased over the past year as the NHS workforce in Scotland reached record numbers.

NHS Forth Valley has seen full-time equivalent staff levels rise from 5335 in 2016 to 5379 this year, the latest figures show.

Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson said: “This increase in the workforce will help to ensure that patients across Falkirk district continue to receive the top-class care that they have come to expect from our NHS – and it’s particularly welcome news as we enter the busy festive period.

“The hardworking staff in our hospitals and surgeries deserve our gratitude and support, and I’d like to thank them for helping to deliver the best-performing NHS in the UK.

“We now have nearly 140,000 people working in the health service in Scotland and I’m delighted that NHS Forth Valley will benefit from having even more dedicated and highly-skilled staff.”
