A total of 1132 baby boxes have been delivered in Forth Valley since they were introduced in August.

The policy is a key part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to make Scotland the best place in the world to grow up.

Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson said: “It is excellent to see so many families across Forth Valley benefitting from the baby box scheme in the first six months since its launch.

“The boxes are a fantastic way of giving our children the very best start in life and the fact that 1132 boxes have already been delivered in Forth Valley – and more than 22,000 across Scotland – shows how popular they are with parents in every corner of the country.

“I hope this enthusiastic uptake will continue, given how beneficial baby boxes are proving to newborns and their parents.”

Each box contains important items such as baby clothes, a thermometer, a bath towel, a changing mat and books. The box also doubles as a bed, containing a mattress, mattress protector and fitted sheet – providing a safe and warm place for newborns to sleep.
