I want to take this opportunity to once again thank constituents for their patience and understanding since the start of the pandemic. After an extremely busy year, my constituency office staff will be taking a break now until Tuesday, January 5.

If you need urgent help during this period, Falkirk Council’s 24-hour helpline on 01324 506070 can offer support on issues such as homelessness, antisocial behaviour, council housing repairs, homecare, roads and street lighting. The social work emergency duty team can be contacted on 01786 470500 when social work offices are closed. For full details of the council’s festive arrangements, see https://www.falkirk.gov.uk/news/article.aspx?aid=3364

The Samaritans’ helpline is open 24 hours a day on 116 123 or you can call Breathing Space on 0800 83 85 87 (6pm to 2am on weekdays and 24 hours at weekends) if you’re feeling low, depressed or anxious. Victims of domestic violence can call 0808 2000 247 for confidential support 24 hours a day.

Finally, a big thank you to everyone who will be working over Christmas to keep vital services running.

Please stay safe and here’s to a much better 2021.
