Homeowners across Falkirk District can now apply for an interest-free loan of up to £32,500 to improve the energy efficiency of their properties.

The Home Energy Scotland Loan Scheme, which was launched this week, will make £34million of funding available to help owner-occupiers and private landlords install measures such as wall insulation, double glazing, boilers, warm air units and other forms of renewable technology.

The scheme, which has been created by combining two existing initiatives, also includes a cashback offer of up to 25 per cent for a limited time.

Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson said: “Making a home more energy efficient is one of the most effective ways in which individuals can play their part to combat climate change, and this new scheme offers an ideal opportunity to finance such work.

“A more energy efficient home is also cheaper to keep warm, making it a win-win situation, so I’d encourage constituents to look into whether this scheme could benefit them.”
Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy Paul Wheelhouse said: “Combining previous loan schemes makes it easier for consumers to make all energy-related changes to their properties at the one time. It also cuts red tape and expands the pot of funding available.”
