Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has welcomed the news that more than 100 new jobs will be created at Alexander Dennis Limited in Camelon thanks to the country’s largest ever research and development grant.

Alexander Dennis will receive £7.3 million from Scottish Enterprise to accelerate its innovative £31 million low carbon vehicles programme, creating 101 new jobs and securing 126 existing jobs.

The project aims to take advantage of the growing global demand for hybrid and electric buses and is fundamental to the company’s plans to double turnover by 2020 through new product development for UK & international markets.

In welcoming this new Mr Matheson said:
“The announcement by the First Minister at Alexander Dennis today is very welcome.

“Alexander Dennis is one of the world’s premier bus manufacturing companies and the grant awarded to secure and create 101 additional jobs at the Camelon factory add to this company’s success story.

“These additional jobs are a real boost to the local economy and a tribute to the workforce who have transformed this company in recent years as a world leader”.
