Falkirk West MSP Michael Matheson has criticised the Clydesdale Bank in its proposed closure of its branch in Denny.
Mr Matheson said:

“The proposal to close the bank in Denny town centre will be seen by the people of Denny and Dunipace as another blow to their community.

“This decision is extremely short sighted to say the least, given that the nearest Clydesdale Bank is now in Falkirk.

“Whilst I acknowledge that customers are using alternative banking methods, it must be said that many older people in particular prefer to attend their local branch to make transactions and deal with any banking matter.

“I have written to the Chief Executive of the Clydesdale Bank asking them to reconsider this decision given the negative impact it will have on the local area and older customers in particular”.
